Introduction
The sharing and conveying of knowledge, information and insights
In recent decades we have witnessed a growing world wide emerging awareness. More and more people understand that humanity and the developed (industrial) society have reached a level where the large-scale eco-system of our planet is adversely affected. Consequences are increasingly visible and it doesn’t leave us indifferent. More and more individuals and organizations are beginning to see that changes in attitudes, management and the handling of our fragile eco-systems are needed to secure our planet, humanity and all life for future generations.
Individuals, companies, NGOs and governments regularly organize meetings, which are increasingly on the subjects of sustainability and sustainable development, innovation, environment, climate, green energy, international migration, human rights, people / planet / profit, the UN Millennium Goals, the Earth Charter, international law, peace building, conflict management, multilateral cooperation, etc., etc.
In our society there is a perceptible increasing need for good information on these matters. This information is often provided by expert guest speakers, to date in most cases only approachable through commercial agencies and often at great cost.
Green Cross World Speakers is going to change this!
The idea behind Green Cross World Speakers (GCWS)
The Green Cross World Speakers is going to change this and will be online spring/summer 2012. It consists of a multilingual website that supplies expert speakers worldwide who are committed and enthusiastic on the issues above. These international expert speakers have earned recognition and can inspire us to keep thinking about the many things we take for granted but which are crucial for our future.
Green Cross World Speakers will furthermore donate a substantial part of their fee to projects of Dutch and foreign NGO’s that are committed to (and provide information about) the above mentioned topics. They will not only in words, but also in deeds help bring closer the world we all wish for.
All these projects are presented on the GCWS site and interested parties can continuously follow the progress of these projects on it. In return NGOs participating in GCWS promise to give maximum attention to and to promote GCWS within their own network and to deliver names of suitable speakers.
It is clear that a wide range and quality of the speakers on the GCWS site will make it more attractive, which in turn pays off for participating NGOs.
By booking a guest speaker from the GCWS site, clients show their dedication to taking a piece of their social responsibility. Where possible, these clients and present listeners are provided with information about the present guest speaker, the projects supported by the speaker, the GCWS site, the Green Cross organization, the UN Millennium Goals and the Earth Charter.
By presenting expert speakers on the above themes clearly together in one place on the Internet, Green Cross expects to speed up the important and necessary process of awareness. With "Green Cross World Speakers' Green Cross hopes to contribute to bringing closer a viable and secure world of the future for all its inhabitants.
